Day 15: Time Out

I’m weirdly lethargic today. After physical therapy, I came home and wound up sleeping for a couple of hours. I tried to hang out downstairs on the couch, but can’t seem to make it out of bed. I’ve got that feeling that I’m probably fighting a bug of some kind. So, today will be an off day – they have to happen sometime, I suppose. Hopefully I can pick it back up tomorrow.

Cheers, y’all.

  1. Hope you feel refreshed and ready to go again today 😉

  2. I hope you feel better too. Taking a day’s rest will hopefully fight the bug off.

I’m on my last day of my second exam by the way. Feeling more stressed out than ever. I feel like I don’t want to go any further with academic philosophy. It’s not nice when you don’t feel really interested in what you do.. with the negative job situation that I might end up with when I’m done, not even feeling interested leaves me with nothing. Hopefully all this is just a passing feeling like usual. I love philosophy – I really do. Right now it’s just damn hard to remember.

  5. Thanks everyone for your kind comments! I’m hoping that a couple of days off will get me back to work soon. (or as I put it in an email to a friend back on that skinny, ugly-ass, ancient flea-ridden horse. (a.k.a. the dissertation)

Sussi – I have long believed that if you aren’t questioning what you are doing periodically, you shouldn’t be in academia. It is one of those ventures where every so often (or even every day) you have to ask yourself 2 things: 1. is it worth it, and 2. would I be happy doing anything else? The answer to both for me is usually no. But, I think it is the questioning itself that is important, so good for you for doing it! And, it is always hardest to remember that you love it at the end of semesters when you’re crazed, over worked, under rested, and generally drained. I hope you make it through this stressful time, and wind up on the other side in a better place.

    best – SG
